Jewelry Care
How to Care Pearl Jewelry?
Pearls are the world's only organic gems, which means special attention is required to ensure that pearls will stay beautiful and will last a lifetime.
-
The best advice we can give you is to wear your pearls as often as possible -- the body's natural oils keep pearls lustrous.
-
To shine pearls, you can put a few drops of olive oil, coconut oil or monoi oil on the pearls, and then wipe them with a soft cloth to remove the excess oil.
-
Beware of perfumes, makeup, hairspray, and household cleaners such as dish washing or hand soaps as their chemical properties can damage your pearl. Put on your perfume or hairspray first, let it set for a few minutes, then put on your pearls.
-
After wearing pearls, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove any traces of cosmetic products or body sweat.
-
Pearls should be stored separately from other jewelry.
-
If possible, store them wrapped in a soft cloth or in a soft-lined container, pouch, or jewelry box, but not in an airtight container because the pearls need to "breathe".
-
It is strongly recommended not to get your pearls wet by either showering or swimming (ocean, swimming pool or Jacuzzi hot tubs).
-
Do not use abrasive cleaners or polishing cloths. Do not use steam or ultrasonic cleaners.
How to Care 18k gold plated Jewelry?
Dedejill’s pieces are produced in 18ct gold-plated brass metal with a thick layer of 18ct gold.
- Gold Plated Jewelry will naturally tarnish over time, especially when exposed to environmental factors like air pollution, moisture, and items that contain sulfur. But it is easy to restore the shine of gold plating jewelry.
-
Do not spray on perfume or other sprays while wearing your gold plated jewelry. Wear your jewelry after you have sprayed on your favorite perfume.
-
Wait until your lotion or cream is dry or has been absorbed by your skin before you wear your gold plated ring, bracelet or necklace.
-
Make sure you don’t forget to remove your gold plated jewelry when you exercise or anything that would require heavy physical work, and also when swimming.
-
Every after use, clean your plated jewelry with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt it has acquired. Gently rubbing the surface of your gold plated jewelry using a soft jewelry cloth also helps restore shine.
-
To avoid scratches, wrap your jewelry in a soft cloth after cleaning or keep it in a jewelry box separate from other types of jewelry you have.
